Rounder's Rules

Basic Rounders Rules
  1. 9 players and 3 subs
  2. The game is played with a bat and a sliotar.
  3. There are 4 bases
    1. Home
    2. 1st
    3. 2nd
    4. 3rd
  4. Fielding team must get 3 batters/runners out at which point the inning ends
  5. There are generally 5 innings
  6. A good ball is a strike (even if the ball is not hit)
  7. A ball that is hit is a strike (even if the ball is bad)
  8. Batters must run on the 3rd strike
  9. To score a batter must run into home base
  10. Do not throw the ball at a runner/batter
The Fielding Team
  1. 9 players will take positions on the field
  2. A Pitcher/Bowler
  3. A Catcher
  4. Shortstop
  5. 1st base
  6. 2nd base
  7. 3rd base
  8. 2 Fielder's out field between 2nd and 3rdbase
  9. 1 fielder out field between 1st and 2nd base
The Running Team
  1. Each player will get the opportunity to bat
  2. The referee will call a player up to bat
  3. The pitcher/bowler will throw the ball at the catcher for the batter to hit
  4. A good ball is a strike (even if the ball is not hit)
  5. A ball that is hit is a strike (even if the ball is bad)
  6. Batters must run on the 3rd strike
  7. On 3 bad balls each runner gets a walk on to the next base
Getting a runner/batter out
  1. Do not throw the ball at a runner/batter
  2. If a ball is caught by a fielder without bouncing of the ground the batter is out
  3. A runner can be tagged when a fielder holds the ball in their hand, the fielder just has to touch the runner (the runner must be off base)
  4. A base can be tagged when a fielder holds the ball in their hand and touchs the base (the base must be free of runners)
    1. By tagging a base a runner may not run to that base.
    2. A runner is out if they cannot make it to a base before it is tagged or if the base that they are running from is also tagged or another runner is at that base.
    3. Runners cannot run back to home base.

Senior Rounders All Ireland 2013

Dates and time for the All Ireland Rounders Championships. With both Men and Mixed teams playing for Portmarnock in 2013. Good luck to all. This the first year that Portmarnock have fielded senior teams.

Leinster League - Competition April 2012

Leinster League for Under 13 Girls and Under 13 Other - Competitions begin Sunday 29th of April 2012 at Caragh GAA Club.

Training is set to begin soon, as competition season begins. We are looking for all ages. Adult training provided.
